Addilynn’s New Room!

photo

For Christmas, Grammy painted and decorated Addilynn’s room. We worked on it all last weekend. Grammy, Dad, and Auntie P did all the painting and I helped with the decorating and cleaning! Addilynn is a princess freak so it fits perfectly! It is definitely a lot of pink, but what little princess doesn’t like pink? Walking through the hall, the light coming from her room has a pink glow to it!

She has new princess coat hooks that she has been using to hang her coat and backpack on all by herself. She sometimes even does it without being asked. She also has a height chart that hangs on the wall and she says “I’m as tall as Tiana!” Which translates to 3 feet tall! Our little baby girl is growing so fast. She talks like an adult and never stops learning. I hope she slows down soon.

Things to Remember about our 2 year old!

This is a long one, but it is so I can remember things about my little princess.

1: She is smarter than she looks…

Addilynn has recently been fighting us tooth and nail to go to bed since I stopped cuddling with her at night. This was a hard one for both of us trust me! Finally, the other night I just explained to her why she had to go to sleep and if she threw a fit then I would have to take her animals away. Wouldn’t you know, it worked. She very rarely whines anymore at bedtime! Unless she is overly tired that is.  Addilynn sleeps with a big bear, a little mini bear, pig, Minnie, horse, care bear, lion, two plastic Gumby like things, a butterfly pillow pet, a small princess pillow, and two little Einstein plastic figurines Annie and Quincy. How she gets any sleep at all I don’t know, but if she doesn’t have them all she cries and says, “I’m missing something!” Another thing she has started is writing the letter “A” it ends up looking more like an “H” most of the time, but who cares. She repeats “down, down, and across” over and over. I need help from my teacher friends on the best ways to teach a toddler how to write because it is super hard to think in toddler terms! Addilynn hears everything, even if she is quietly playing by herself, she  is still listening. So watch what you say around her!  It can get us in trouble!  Lastly, she has been asking me if she is saying things right. It is super cute! She says it one way and then says, “that how you say it??” All of this sporting a cute little confused look on her face!

2.Things that are dressed up are just plain scary…

Addilynn has never been a fan of dressed up things, but it has been reaching new levels since Christmas. She HATES Chopper, the high school mascot. She loves watching the cheerleaders, but when chopper comes out its game over she clings to us and wont take her eyes off of him. At night she is even saying, “I don’t want chopper to come to my house!” Poor baby. No wonder she has so many nightmares!

3. Sitting still is for adults…

Addilynn and I got up early Wednesday and let dad sleep in (not by choice, I think I need to work on my not waking up skills!) So, what better to do than have a little mini spa. Addilynn got pedicure set for Christmas from Gma Mary and Papa Murl so we put it to good use! She loved it, but about 30 minutes into it, while her nails and toenails were wet, she got ants in her pants! She managed to make it through, but she wasn’t having quite as much fun at the end. I guess we should wait a little longer to take her to movie. pedicure1pedicure2pedicure4pedicure5pedicure3

4. Dinner that mom fixes is for the birds…

She will not eat my cooking! How is it that dad is constantly praising me for my cooking ability, but my daughter gags when I cook??? Last night we tried making her eat just a bit of my turkey dumpling soup and then she got to have what she wanted. Eventually if all goes as planned and we keep upping the amount of “moms” food then she wont want anything else! We will see how it goes!

5. Kids are very literal…

Addilynn has been baffled by the fact that her “baby sister” is growing in my belly. At first she would say, “Lexa put the baby in your belly?” Which was a little creepy! So finally I had to tell her that Dada did it. So now she says “Dada put the baby in your belly?” Well, Wednesday she caught me off guard. After asking again if Dada did it she then responded with, “Dada put that baby in your HOLE?” Hmmm Well technically yes but I’m not ready to explain the birds and the bees yet. Then I realized she was pointing to her belly button. She now thinks dad shoved the baby through my “hole” I guess that is a prettier picture than my first thought.

My mommy sensors were going off!

playland

Saturday 1/14/12, Addilynn got to play for the first time in a McDonalds play land. YUCK!!!! I am so against these, but when she saw it for the first time her eyes lit up. “What is that mama? Can I play in it too?” What was I supposed to say. NO??? She asked so nicely. She had a blast with all the other little kids that she was running around with. She especially enjoyed dragging her auntie with her up and down the slide! After play land (and a good scrub) we  went to watch Auntie play basketball. She did great like always!

Enjoying the SNOW!!

editsnow2

Today was Dustin and I’s Saturday! We enjoyed playing in the snow more than once. I’m not usually a huge fan, but the joy on Addilynn’s face makes being cold and wet worth it. Bruiser was a big fan of the snow but sister, not so much. She spent most of the time on the inside looking out. Addilynn even pulled Daddy in the sled. She loves eating the snow, we had to teach her the “don’t eat yellow snow” rule. Hopefully she remembers! Today was a good day hanging out with my favorite people. We also got to hear baby T’s heartbeat. The doctor didn’t think we would be able to hear it since I’m only 13 wks 5 days but it was strong as could be! The sound of a beating heart and the squeals of my little princess were the best sounds of the day!

Visit to Camp

editcamp

Addilynn and I went up to visit our summer spot with my Dad, Lisa, and Paige. Only it didn’t look much like summer or winter for that matter. There was a little snow but not as much as in years past. It sure was cold! We didn’t spend much time hanging out there just checked things out and jumped right back in. Paige got to shoot her new gun so she got to enjoy camp a little bit more! On the way home Addilynn’s car seat tipped over (real safe huh?) so I had to snap a picture! She thought it was pretty funny. Now in the car she pretend tips her seat.

Addilynn and I made pizza roll up for dinner. I let Addilynn make her own pizza. She had a blast rolling and topping the pizza dough. She is a good, but messy little helper. After dinner, we went to Auntie Paige’s basketball game. She did great and won of course!
